In a press release on May 4, 2016, US Department of Health and Human Services announced the award of over $260 million in HIIP FY2016 awards to 290 health centers in 45 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. These awards will support facility renovation, expansion, and/or construction with a view to building capacity and extending services to over 800,000 new patients nationwide.

Six (6) New Jersey health centers received $4,780,203 to serve an anticipated 23,531 additional patients. New Jersey health centers already serve nearly 500,000 patients Statewide and this award will allow the health centers to build and renovate facilities and extend affordable healthcare services to many more.
