CAMDEN, NJ — Amid the excitement of National Health Centers Week, two community care organizations based in Camden received another reason to celebrate.

Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ 1) announced Friday that CAMcare Health Corporation and Project H.O.P.E., two federally qualified health centers that serve South Jersey residents, will receive $305,795 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Center Program.

CAMcare, which has serviced Camden and Gloucester counties since 1978, will be awarded $167,000 to continue delivering care to those in need. Another $138,795 is going to Project H.O.P.E. to support its mission of providing health care to homeless residents in Camden and to enhance substance abuse programs.

The news was shared at an event on Federal Street in Camden marking the conclusion of the annual health centers week. Joined by CAMcare and other South Jersey providers and patients, Norcross argued that “everyone ought to have access to quality health care.”

“It’s that simple, and community health centers play an important role in ensuring there’s access for all,” Norcross said. “Investments like these improve the well-being of our neighbors and friends, help us battle the disease of addiction at home, and support jobs for hard-working health care professionals who devote their time to helping others.”
